Whats becoming a bit of a seasonal tradition, The Great British Sewing Bee returns with two festive celebrity specials. And it certainly sounds like we’re in for a Christmas treat!

New presenter Sara Pascoe will front the show for the first along with judges Esme and Patrick.

It all kicks off on Wednesday 22nd December at 8pm on BBC1 with the first of the two part special. Rev Kate Bottley, actors Antony Cotton and Kiell Smith-Bynoe, and presenter Anneka Rice put their sewing skills to the test, competing in three challenges set by Patrick and Esme.

The four brave celebrities follow a pattern for a Christmas jumper, they transform a charity shop bundle into fancy dress outfit and create dresses from Christmas past.

The show will return for a second festive episode on 30th December at 9pm on BBC1. The celebrities will include Drag Race winner Lawrence Chaney, comedian and writer, Rose Matafeo, singer, Claire Richards from Steps and journalist Kirsty Wark. Judges Patrick Grant and Esme Young challenge the celebrities to rustle up a festive waistcoat, transform some old clothes into children’s party dresses and fit a food themed fancy dress outfit to a model. Finally they hit the dance floor with Claire performing an eighties disco classic.

But who’s going to come away with the best celebrity sewer accolade? Who’s going to feel the pressure in that workroom? We are just going to have to tune in and find out. Best of luck to all the contestants, and if any of you have now caught the sewing bug, try out some of our easy to make projects!

Happy Sewing!
